MANCHESTER United flop Liam Miller has admitted that he may be forced to consider a loan move away from the club to regain a place in Brian Kerr’s team.
The midfielder, who moved from Celtic on a mega-bucks five-year deal last summer, has failed to make his mark in Alex Ferguson’s side.
He’s made just one sub appearance this season and is without a 90 minutes since beating Arsenal in the League Cup last December.
The Irishman has also lost his place in the Ireland side, but insisted that he’s happy in the Old Trafford stands. He said: “I have no regrets.
“I have put no time limit on making the breakthrough, I just have to keep training.
“A loan move somewhere else could be beneficial, but for now I’d still like to stay here and try to break in the team.”
For many, these words are a vindication of the opinion Miller made the right move at the wrong time. After a quickfire breakthrough with Martin O’Neill’s Celtic at the start of 2003/04 which saw him star in Champions League victories over Anderlecht and Lyon, Miller caught the eye of United scout Martin Ferguson.
He signed a pre-contract agreement that January enraging O’Neill and the fans, who had seen him emerge from three seasons of constant injury only to leave as soon as the made the first team.
Miller said: “It’s hard at United. The lads have made a great start, so I am still training, trying to impress the manager. If we get a few injuries I have to be ready and take the chance.
“Training with Paul Scholes and Roy Keane is good because I’m learning a lot. The boss has told me to be patient and work hard in training and he’s told me things to work on.”
His lack of impact was shown this season when striker Alan Smith was handed Keane’s midfield position in his absence.
